THREE LEGGED BOWLS
(For larger view and description click on image)

oak wood bowl Oak is a very difficult wood to work. It is hard, open pored, subject to checking and cracking and has a tendency to splinter along the grain. Raw logs have to be worked quickly to prevent checking.

laminated wood bowl One of the few laminated bowls I've made. This one of Maple. I took small pieces of kiln dried wood and glued them together, carved and sanded smooth. I made a smaller one to fit beneath the larger. Sometime in the near future this is an idea I would like to pursue further. The potential for new and different shapes as well as different wood combinations is staggering!
